Christina Lyon was born in Newport Beach, California and began dancing at the age of twelve. She studied with Yvonne Mounsey, former Principal Dancer of the New York City Ballet, and Rosemary Valaire, formerly of The Royal Ballet. At age thirteen, she was invited to train at the prestigious Bolshoi Ballet Academy in Moscow, Russia. She was awarded the Friends of Joffrey Scholarship and was the First Place winner of the Los Angeles Music Center Spotlight Awards. She also spent many summers on merit scholarship at School of American Ballet in New York. . At the age of 16 Ms. Lyon was invited to join ABT where she performed with the company and toured around the world. She also appeared as a guest artist with the English National Ballet in London and Bavarian National Ballet in Munich. 

​Ms. Lyon is the Founder and Artistic Director of Gala de Danza. A successful career as a performing artist, led to the creation of Gala de Danza, with the intention to share her passion with others to cultivate, create and educate individuals on the profound benefits the arts bring to the world. After 7 successful Gala de Danza productions in Los Cabos, Mexico, Ms. Lyon continues to create beautiful artistry in extraordinary places, going global with the next production taking place in London June 25 & 26, 2025.

Ms. Lyon is constantly scouting new talent with the goal of providing dancers with the tools they need to continue their education and launch professional careers in dance. She has been a teacher and a mentor to dance students around the world.

Ms. Lyon was on the Board of Directors of American Ballet Theatre, Chair of the Board at Youth America Grand Prix as well as serving as an advisor to Segerstrom Center for the Arts.
